Wednesday 7th February saw the Oval Team get together for our first quarterly review of 2024.
Tim formally welcomed our new Oval team members Gemma & Victoria before presenting highlights from both 2023 & last month as well as acknowledging the frustrations and challenges of the last year.
He then led a discussion on the need to drive Clients understanding of the importance of a slick application process to keep the best Candidates highly engaged, committed, and fully invested in their opportunity. Indeed, much evidence confirms that an overly complicated application process, lack of communication, long drawn out processes and poor interview experience rank as the top reasons for candidate drop out. Another important team discussion point was around focusing on candidates motivations for a new role and ensuring we fully understand any particular circumstances or obstacles which may prevent a candidate from pursuing a particular opportunity.
Tim then discussed our current business strengths & weaknesses and looked ahead to Oval targets & focus areas for 2024. The team recognised the exciting opportunities ahead and came up with lots of ideas & suggestions to enhance the services we offer to both our clients & candidates alike. An action plan was produced that will ensure we are constantly innovating and adapting to our clients & candidates’ needs & defining the future of recruitment excellence.
To celebrate our first get together in 2024 we had an afternoon out at TeamSport in Sheffield.
We arrived to meet our friendly motorsport expert, Russel & his team, to help kit us all out with protective jumpsuits, balaclavas, helmets & gloves. We then went to the briefing room to watch the safety presentation, learn track rules & etiquette & how to operate the Go Karts. Next, we headed to the track to board our Go-Karts lined up on the Starting Grid in the Pit Lane & we were finally off.
The races were exhilarating, the top speed of 40mph felt more like 80mph as you whizzed round sharp bends, chicanes, up & down ramps & put your pedal to the floor along the straights. A great time was had by all & we eagerly awaited the results as we enjoyed refreshments in the bar to discover our fastest lap & average lap times.
Kayleigh proved herself to be the Oval Queen of Speed with the fastest lap of 1.05.175!! Well done Kayleigh!!
We then headed back to the office to catch up with calls & emails before an enjoyable end to our team update day in Zinni’s, Bawtry for delicious Italian cuisine & drinks. We’re all revved up and ready for the work ahead. Here’s to a fantastic Q1!
