Our client is a leading West Midlands based UK food processor.  They are looking to recruit a Commercial Manager to manage trading supply with customers and drive their business forwards whilst enhancing customer service.

 

 

Role Overview

To effectively manage trading supply with customers. The focus of this position is to enhance existing client relationships, negotiate improved terms, manage day to day service and construct and deliver weekly updates.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • To identify and develop sales opportunities for business branded products and selected own label products into existing and potential accounts.
  • Proactively manage a portfolio of client accounts to maximise contract retention and loyalty.
  • Renew and negotiate client contracts to optimise the company’s financial return and contract terms
  • Ensure clients supply experience is positive and trouble free, develop strategic position.
  • Respond to client requests in an appropriate, professional and timely manner.
  • Support operations in the development of new services for clients, including budget development, developing presentations, contract negotiation proposals, marketing and general support, joint business plans.
  • Keep the wider business informed of changes and developments as they relate to client relationships and contracts, in a timely manner.

 

Other duties as required.

  • Product launches, customer strategy, new customer development with final price submissions to be agreed with Head of Commercial.
  • Constant feedback of information with regard to market & competitor activities to colleagues, marketing and NPD.
  • Attend sales meetings, conferences and other Company events and carry out day to day administrative tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
  • To actively participate in training and development activities as identified by the company.
  • To actively comply with all Company employment policies and procedures.
  • Support the Commercial team on developing a UK strategy for sales as and when required along with any other reasonable duties as directed by the business.

 

Key Attributes, Knowledge & Skills

  • Appropriate experience of operating in a similar role.
  • Excellent Sales & negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and able to share any changes within the team.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen.
  • Can effectively motivate teams.
  • Knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.
  • The ability to manage the day to day whilst challenging the norm in a positive and constructive manner.

 

Additional

  • Some travel will be required domestically and abroad as required as customer development and responsibility grows.
