The Food Technologist is responsible for and is the Technical Lead for the administration of the Supplier and Raw Material Approval programme relating to Technical requirements in line with BRC and other GFSI standards. Supports the customer complaints process by trending and reporting complaints and preparation of complaints report. Supporting the Specifications Technologist in the generation of Customer and Factory specifications.

Primary accountabilities

  • Maintain and keep up to date the approved supplier and specification database, including the completion of risk assessments and supply chain mapping.
  • Maintain and keep up to date the raw material and primary and secondary packaging approval database, including completion of risk assessments, approval of raw material specifications and update of the TACCP/VACCP system in line with raw material changes
  • Trend and report any significant complaints trends. Creation and issuing of complaint KPI and summary reports for relevant business meetings. Deputising for issuing the investigations in the absence of QA Supervisor.
  • Complete customer specifications: this may include online portals and word/excel documents. Deputising Specification Technologist during her absence.
  • Prepare Plant documentation including: recipes, process specifications and labels for launches and when specification amends have been issued.
  • Artwork approval for Brand and Own Label
  • As a member of the Internal Audit Team, carry out audits according to the schedule


  • Experience in working with confidential information.
  • Hands on experience in completing Retail online specifications; Asda, Co-op, and other related on line portals.
  • Hands on experience with on line Portals
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Power point & Outlook.
