We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Forklift Driver to join a well-established food and drink manufacturing site in Bedford.

This is an important role within the warehouse and packaging operation, supporting the smooth movement of materials and finished goods across a busy production environment. You will help ensure that warehouse and logistics activities are completed safely, efficiently and in line with the required quality, food safety and health and safety standards.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and will take pride in maintaining high standards of housekeeping, hygiene and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate counterbalance forklifts, clamp trucks and other equipment as required.

  • Complete all relevant forklift and health and safety checks.

  • Load and unload inbound and outbound trailers.

  • Move materials and finished goods safely between warehouse, packaging and production areas.

  • Handle the movement of empty containers and packaged products.

  • Carry out gas loading for forklift trucks when required.

  • Use handheld systems and SAP to accurately book stock in and out.

  • Maintain excellent standards of housekeeping, cleanliness and hygiene.

  • Support cleaning, autonomous maintenance, material handling and other operational activities.

  • Check, care for and preserve equipment, tools and materials.

  • Report equipment faults, incidents or issues that could affect site operations.

  • Follow all site requirements relating to quality, food safety, HACCP and food defence.

  • Contribute to production volume targets while maintaining safe and compliant working practices.

About You

You will be a reliable, proactive and safety-conscious individual with experience operating forklifts in a warehouse, logistics, food manufacturing or other fast-paced industrial environment.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have:

  • A valid Counterbalance FLT licence.

  • Experience loading and unloading trailers.

  • Previous experience in food, drink, brewing or FMCG manufacturing; desirable but not essential.

  • Experience using forklift attachments such as clamps, “top hat” attachments or double forks; advantageous.

  • An understanding of workplace health and safety and food safety requirements.

  • HACCP training or certification; desirable.

  • Experience using SAP or a willingness to learn new systems.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing tasks.

  • A calm, practical approach to problem-solving.

  • The flexibility to work rotating shifts and weekends when required.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing food and drink manufacturing operation where your skills will directly support production, warehouse performance and customer service.

You will become part of a collaborative site team, working in an environment that values safety, quality, continuous improvement and operational excellence. The role also offers attractive earning potential through the additional shift allowance.
