A well-established and growing FMCG business is looking to appoint its first Head of Finance to join the senior leadership team.

This is a rare opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional to take ownership of the function, shape the reporting landscape, and play a pivotal role in the next stage of business growth.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someone who enjoys combining technical excellence with strategic influence. You will work closely with the Managing Director and wider leadership team, acting as a trusted business partner while also ensuring robust financial control, clear insight, and scalable processes across the organisation.

The role

As Head of Finance, you will take full responsibility for the finance function and lead a small team, ensuring the business has accurate, timely information to support decision-making at every level. You will oversee the core financial reporting cycle, strengthen forecasting capability, and help drive improvements that support efficiency, growth, and long-term resilience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management.

  • Providing commercial analysis and insight to support senior decision-making.

  • Owning monthly reporting, management accounts, and balance sheet integrity.

  • Reviewing and improving finance processes, systems, and controls.

  • Supporting project costing, investment appraisals, and business cases.

  • Managing relationships with external advisors, auditors, and banking partners.

  • Leading and developing a small finance team.

About you

We are looking for a qualified accountant with a strong track record in financial leadership, ideally gained within FMCG, manufacturing, or another fast-paced SME environment. You will be confident operating at both a strategic and operational level, with the credibility to influence senior stakeholders and the resilience to get into the detail when needed.

You will bring:

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification.

  • Strong experience in financial control, analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.

  • A commercial mindset and the ability to translate numbers into action.

  • Excellent communication skills and confidence partnering with non-finance teams.

  • Advanced Excel and strong financial modelling capability.

  • Experience improving finance processes, systems, or reporting tools.

Why apply?

This is an exceptional opportunity for a senior finance professional to make a genuine mark in a business where finance has a direct line to the top table. You’ll have the autonomy to shape the function, the visibility to influence change, and the chance to help steer a growing business through its next phase of success.
