Our client are a leading natural food manufacturer based in mid Wales.  They are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanically biased Multiskilled Engineer to join their team on a Pitman Shift (6am – 6pm) 2, 2, 3.

 

                  

 

Role Description

Reporting to the Maintenance Shift Team leader, this role is responsible for the continuous running of equipment and machinery in industrial settings.

Using computerised systems, the maintenance engineers perform routine maintenance and repairs. They are also involved with control and monitoring devices and occasionally assist in the manufacture of items that will help in maintenance.

Shift engineers work in a clean, safe, cost effective and responsible manner, monitoring plant, machinery and services throughout the factory.

Shift engineers are required to work with minimal supervision and to work flexible shift patterns to meet operational needs.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out routine maintenance work across the factory, warehouse and offices and respond to equipment faults.
  • Diagnose breakdown problems.
  • Fit new parts and make sure equipment is working correctly.
  • Carry out quality inspections on jobs.
  • Control maintenance tools, stores, and equipment
  • Deal with emergencies, unplanned problems, and repairs
  • Improve health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure there is continuous cover of the machinery and equipment in case of breakdowns.
  • Create and update maintenance, and breakdown reports.
  • Keep Shire maintenance system up to date and current
  • Maintains records (manual and computerised) as necessary.
  • Accepts responsibility for his/her own personal and professional development to meet or exceed Performance Management targets.
  • Undertakes such other reasonable tasks, commensurate with the role, that may from time to time be allocated.
  • Employ a “can do” attitude and implement 100yr fixes to problems.
  • Work closely with operations, quality and H&S to improve all aspects of food production.
  • Manage Contractors permit to work especially at weekends.

 

Role specific skills required.

  • Proficient with engineering schematics, both electrical and Mechanical
  • Minimum requirement of a time served apprenticeship for mechanical maintenance engineer & basic electrical knowledge/qualification
  • Methodical approach to working, impeccable record keeping
  • Knowledgeable in the use of power tools, welding equipment and precision instruments
  • Computer literate
  • Understanding of the requirements of food manufacturing
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Team player
  • Proven work history
