An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced SHE Manager to take ownership of safety, health, environmental and sustainability performance at a busy food and drink manufacturing site in Dorset.

This is a senior, high-impact role for someone who can combine strong technical knowledge with visible, practical leadership.

You will work closely with site leaders, employees, auditors, regulators and wider group colleagues to strengthen SHE standards, improve engagement and deliver measurable operational change.

You will play an important role in ensuring that safety and environmental responsibilities are embedded into everyday decision-making, while supporting the site’s longer-term sustainability ambitions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and maintain the site’s environmental, health and safety management systems.

• Maintain relevant certifications, including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

• Set and manage SHE objectives, improvement plans, budgets and performance reports.

• Lead investigations into accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective actions.

• Develop and deliver the site sustainability strategy and employee engagement programme.

• Build strong ownership of SHE performance across all levels of the workforce.

• Liaise with the Environment Agency, HSE, auditors, waste carriers, advisers and other external stakeholders.

• Represent the site at relevant industry forums and within wider group SHE networks.

• Support the leadership team with advice, challenge and practical solutions beyond the immediate SHE remit.

About you

You will be an experienced SHE, environmental or health and safety professional with a background in food, drink, FMCG or another regulated manufacturing environment.

You are likely to bring:

• A recognised qualification such as NEBOSH, IEMA or ISEP.

• Practical experience managing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems.

• Experience preparing for and managing audits and maintaining certification.

• Confidence investigating incidents and delivering sustainable improvement plans.

• The ability to work effectively with regulators, auditors and external advisers.

• Strong communication and influencing skills at all levels of an organisation.

• A practical, visible and collaborative approach to leadership.

• The ability to turn strategy into clear actions and measurable results.

Desirable qualifications and experience may include Environmental Permit Operators Competence, Train the Trainer, Food Hygiene and Internal Auditor training.
