Our Client, a food manufacturer based in Wales, has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Manager looking to join a rapidly growing company, or even a very experienced Quality Manager ready to take their next step up.

 

ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Site Technical Manager will form part of the site Management team and will report to the Operations Director. They will lead the Factory Technical function on site ensuring that the factory operates at the highest level of compliance with customer and legislative requirements while working to maintain extremely high-quality standards and service delivery.

 

                                          

 

JOB PURPOSE:

  • Managing Food Safety, Integrity, and Quality Audits (e.g., Customer & BRC)
  • Ensuring that the site takes a professional approach to Food Safety & Quality and is legally compliant in everything we do.
  • Develop and manage the site Technical Team, leading by example to continuously drive improvement.
  • To implement the appropriate due-diligence systems and facilitate their operation.
  • The management, analysis, and reporting of Factory Technical KPI’s.
  • Work collaboratively with the sites operations teams to promote a positive culture of food safety and quality.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Managing the daily Factory Technical QA Team: training, development, tasks, etc.
  • The management, analysis and reporting of Factory Technical KPI’s
  • Key member and Site Lead for customer or third-party audits
  • Factory Technical support and input to NPD process; In terms of advice prior to trials, support during trial, shelf life etc.
  • Factory Allergen Management – Implementation of controls and adherence to procedures/standards.
  • Food Safety Plan (HACCP) team Leader
  • Leading investigations and root cause analysis following non-conformances.
  • Conducting staff training and briefings when necessary
  • To perform tasks that are of a reasonable request in line with the technical department reporting any breaches in Food Safety or Quality to the Senior Management Team.
  • Actively promote good working relationship with colleagues across all functions within the business

The above is not exhaustive and you may be required to perform other duties within the department/departments (training permitting), or undertaking other reasonable tasks as required by the business.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE NEEDED:

  • Food Safety Standards
  • Hygiene Standards
  • Technical Standards in a food manufacturing high care environment
  • Understanding of health and safety
  • HACCP training level 3 or higher
  • Food hygiene level 3 or higher
  • BRC Auditing
  • Supervising / Management experience desired
  • Able to use communicate at all levels in various formats.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Time management skills
  • Project Management Skills
  • Training/Mentoring Skills
  • IT literate – Microsoft Office including Excel and Power Point
  • Problem solving and generation of solutions, escalating to senior level as appropriate.
