Our client is seeking an experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer to join a fast-paced food manufacturing environment in Birmingham.
This is a hands-on role for a senior engineer who enjoys problem-solving, thrives under pressure, and takes pride in keeping production equipment running safely, efficiently, and reliably.
Role Overview
You will play a key part in maintaining the smooth operation of high-speed production and site services equipment, supporting both planned and reactive maintenance activity. Working as part of a skilled engineering team, you will carry out fault finding, repairs, and preventative maintenance across a broad range of mechanical and electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

Carrying out reactive breakdown repairs and planned preventative maintenance.

Fault finding and repairing electrical and mechanical systems, including PLCs, inverter drives, HMIs, conveyors, weighing systems, wrappers, and associated equipment.

Maintaining accurate maintenance records and supporting compliance with site standards.

Working with building services systems including refrigeration, fire systems, air handling, air conditioning, and building management systems.

Supporting health and safety, environmental, and company procedures at all times.

Contributing to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
We’re looking for a confident multi-skilled engineer with strong food or high-speed manufacturing experience who can manage multiple tasks and make sound decisions quickly. You should be comfortable reading electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings, and have a logical approach to fault diagnosis.
Skills & Experience

Recognised engineering qualifications to HNC level or equivalent.

17th/18th Edition wiring regulations.

Strong electrical fault-finding skills across control circuits and 3-phase systems.

Experience with PLC fault finding and inverter drive controls.

Excellent mechanical skills, including repairs, fabrication, welding, and gearbox or motor maintenance.

Experience working within TPM systems and a strong understanding of statutory compliance in food manufacturing.
Desirable qualifications include MEWP, FLT, IOSH/NEBOSH, and Food Safety certification.
