We currently have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Site Manager to join an exciting & ambitious entrepreneurial startup business.

The Role

Reporting into the operations director, this role will be in charge of all the operations of the food manufacturing and warehouse facility.

This key leadership role is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective management of production, logistics, and overall site operations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food manufacturing, with a proven track record in managing production processes, maintaining high-quality standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Production Management

• Plan and coordinate production schedules, rotas, activities, and the allocation of responsibilities to ensure efficient operation.
• Maintain product quality control systems and production standards, leading corrective actions and investigations for customer product complaints.
• Support the development and implementation of evolving Food Quality systems.
• Manage material and staff resources, optimizing efficiency and reducing wastage to achieve budgeted product unit costs.
• Drive initiatives to reduce packaging and raw material costs.
• Create and maintain all production paperwork, ensuring records are properly reviewed and maintained.
• Oversee production engineering responsibilities, including preventive maintenance schedules and repairs to minimize downtime.
• Manage contractor engagements for on-site commissioning and risk assessments of new machinery, ensuring work is completed on time and within specifications.
• Maintain site hygiene standards, managing associated material and manpower costs.
• Collaborate with Innovation projects to cost and implement new products, processes, and procedures.

Warehouse & Distribution

• Control in-house and third-party distribution schedules and processes to maximise customer service delivery.
• Manage inbound deliveries and schedules to ensure timely and efficient operations. Develop and optimise stock and picking processes, ensuring efficient product rotation protocols.
• Maintain and develop Health and Safety records and standards, ensuring compliance across the site.
• Oversee demand planning and cost control for warehouse consumables and equipment.
• Contribute to big capex equipment and infrastructure projects

Management

• Manage, train, and develop all production, hygiene, warehouse, and distribution staff, including recruitment, appraisals, disciplinary actions, and KPI setting.
• Contribute to the development and tracking of the company budget, providing cost estimates and controls.
• Chair operational meetings, developing interdepartmental meeting schedules and agendas.
• Participate in senior management meetings, delivering analysis of KPIs and other critical data.
