Our client, a leading drinks business currently have a Canning Operator vacancy within their production team to help them deliver high-quality drinks to customers across the UK and beyond.
As a Canning Operator, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring packaging and kegging operations run smoothly, safely, and efficiently.
You’ll work with advanced machinery, contribute to product quality, and keep our operations moving in line with production targets.
This is a brilliant opportunity for someone experienced in packaging or beverage production who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys being hands-on with machinery and logistics.
Key Responsibilities

Operate, monitor, and maintain canning and kegging lines, palletisers, depalletisers, and associated packaging equipment.

Carry out start-up, shutdown, and changeover procedures safely and efficiently.

Ensure continuous material supply to lines, minimising downtime while ensuring product quality and production KPIs are achieved.

Perform equipment checks, routine maintenance, and autonomous cleaning tasks, reporting any faults or incidents to the Engineering team.

Complete quality checks (temperatures, pressures, CO? levels, weights, sampling) and record results in line with SOPs and food safety standards.

Handle logistics tasks such as loading/unloading trailers, moving kegs and pallets using forklift/clamp trucks, and updating records in SAP/LIMS.

Support colleagues in Lab and Filtration teams, ensuring beer quality remains within specification.

Maintain a safe, organised, and clean working environment, always following site Health & Safety (H&S), Food Safety (F&S), HACCP, and PPE requirements.

Accurately record production operations in MES, SAP, and relevant systems for auditing, downtime management, and traceability.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams and assist with troubleshooting, problem-solving, and process improvements.
Skills & Experience Required

Proven experience operating canning lines, keg lines, forklifts, or packaging machinery in food, drink, or related industries.

Valid FLT license (and ideally shunter/truck clamp experience).

Strong awareness of H&S, Food Safety, HACCP procedures.

Technical ability to operate, monitor, and troubleshoot production machinery.

Computer literacy, with some exposure to SAP, MES, or similar systems.

Flexible, reliable, and a natural problem solver able to work under pressure.

Comfortable working rotating shift patterns, including weekends.

Extra skills a plus: MEWP license, CIP and kegging experience, beer movement procedures, LIMS recording.
