Role Description
Reporting to the Maintenance Shift Team Leader, the Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the uninterrupted operation of machinery and equipment across a dynamic food manufacturing facility.
Using computerised systems and modern control devices, you will perform planned maintenance, troubleshoot faults, and implement repairs in collaboration with cross-functional teams to optimise plant reliability and production efficiency.
The role involves proactive and reactive maintenance activities that keep equipment running smoothly and safely, with the flexibility to work varied shift patterns according to operational needs.?
Key Responsibilities

Perform routine planned maintenance and respond promptly to equipment breakdowns across factory, warehouse, and office areas.?

Diagnose and resolve faults to ensure machinery operates at peak performance.?

Install, adjust, and replace parts, and carry out quality inspections on completed jobs.?

Manage maintenance tools, stores, and equipment, maintaining accurate records (manual and digital) of activities and repairs.?

Lead or support technical performance reviews and continuous improvement projects, focusing on enhancing safety, quality, and production capabilities.?

Collaborate with operations, quality, and health & safety teams to improve food manufacturing processes.?

Manage contractors and ensure proper work permits, especially on weekends.?

Maintain up-to-date maintenance systems, reports, and documentation.

Respond to emergencies and unplanned repairs, demonstrating resilience in a fast-paced environment.?

Contribute to audits and compliance activities as required.?

Proactively identify and implement long-term solutions ("100-year fixes") for recurring problems.
Role Specific Skills Required

Proficiency with engineering schematics (electrical and mechanical).?

Time-served apprenticeship in mechanical maintenance engineering with basic electrical qualifications.?

Meticulous record-keeping, problem-solving orientation, and methodical approach to work.?

Skilled in the use of power tools, welding equipment, and precision instruments.?

Computer literacy and familiarity with maintenance management systems.?
