This is an exciting opportunity for a proven Production Manager from the FMCG food manufacturing sector to take full responsibility for leading a high-performing production facility. The role offers the chance to influence continuous improvement, drive operational excellence, and lead cross-functional teams in a well-established and quality-focused environment.

 

                 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all production operations across a two-shift system (Monday to Friday, 6:00 am–2:00 pm and 2:00 pm–10:00 pm).

  • Oversee a team of approximately 26 production staff, including two engineers, intake and despatch operatives, a production planner, and AM/PM shift supervisors.

  • Take ownership of engineering activity and coordinate day-to-day support across departments.

  • Champion continuous improvement projects, ensuring efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness across all processes.

  • Manage departmental budgets and planning to meet production targets.

  • Work in close collaboration with technical and health & safety teams to ensure compliance, maintain high hygiene standards, and remain audit-ready.

  • Lead recruitment and development within the production function to build and sustain a strong, motivated workforce.

 

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Production Manager within a fast-paced FMCG food manufacturing environment.

  • Background in meat or poultry processing desirable but not essential.

  • Strong leadership skills, with experience managing diverse teams across multiple disciplines.

  • Demonstrable experience in production planning, budgeting, and problem-solving.

  • Solid understanding of hygiene, health & safety requirements, and quality standards within food manufacturing.

  • Exposure to continuous improvement or project management initiatives is advantageous.

 

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who thrives in a dynamic production environment and takes pride in delivering consistent results through teamwork, accountability, and operational discipline.

 

Further information

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (tbc)
  • 21 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays (including an additional day per completed year of service, up to 25 days total)
